*Insert Gasp*

I am a social Pariah.
At least I feel that way sometimes.
The other day at my MOPS meeting, we had “Tea and Testimony” (sitting around a table, and everyone shares something about their lives.) I sat, listening to all the stories. Commenting where appropriate. Laughing. Crying. Just like everyone else in the room.
It came to be my turn. The first thing I said? “My husband is gone six weeks at a time, then home for six days.” (My topic was “Husbands”) Then it came. I knew it would. It always does. …

Me Thinks I’ve Lost My Mind…

I’ve been battling my weight for the last six years. It’s been the worst the last two and a half. Before I got pregnant, I lost 50 pounds. Then I gained 40 back with my pregnancy, lost 30 gained back 35.
I’ve decided that I’m done with this fight. I’m going to get rid of this weight once and for all. (I’ve probably said that before too… but this time? I mean it.)
So what am I doing to prove that I mean it? I am doing something utterly insane. I have …

Thankful for This Photograph

In my dreams, I am there again, sitting in the waiting room at the hospital. The sterile scent is so burned into my head that I will probably remember it to my dying day. The pepto-pink walls so engrained within my eyelids that I see them in my sleep.
Waiting.
Praying.
Hoping.
Giving Thanks.
This morning, as I go about my day. Preparing for tomorrow’s feast. Anxious to pick up my husband in about 20 minutes, I think about that day. I think about that family. I think about the gift that they have given to …

Why an Arranged Marriage is a good idea

When I was in high school I had a good friend who was of Egyptian decent, and his parents had decided that he and his brothers needed arranged marriages. His parents were so firm in their beliefs that he probably would have been in trouble had they known about our friendship. (Which was ridiculously innocent, by the way.)
This friend grew up, went to college, fell in love with a nice Christian Girl and they are living happily ever after. No arranged marriage needed. (Although I’m sure it took his parents …

Not by the Hair of my Chiny Chin Chin!

I love my husband. No matter what he looks like.
(Really, no matter what he looks like!)
His Capt’n Jack look here proves that. I somehow was not embarrassed to be seen in public with him like this! (Thank Goodness the hat was only for the picture; but the beads? Sadly, they were for real.)

And sadly, I do have proof that I went in public with him… (The summer of 2007 was good for many reasons, but his “style” was NOT one of them.)

I prefer him with Facial hair, but not so …

Dear Kid Sister,

A few days ago I mentioned my little sister, in a not so nice way. (At least according to her! Although I’m sure you totally missed the mention if you read the entry.) And she seems to have forgotten the nice mentions, such as here or here. None the less, I promised her I would write something nice about her. So, here it is.
Kid Sister,
Thank you…
…for letting me shove a camera in your face (or at your feet) anytime I want! I know it can get annoying, and I …

Let the countdown begin…

We just spent a wonderful 7 days with Hubby. Wuzzle LOVED having her Daddy home. They were absolutely inseparable. No matter how hard he tried (which wasn’t very hard) he couldn’t get rid of her! Everytime he tried to do something, his little shadow was there with another toy she wanted him to play with.

The poor guy couldn’t even eat dinner alone. Nope. No way. She was right there to help him out. (Unfortunately, she was less willing to help with the dishes. Which meant, that was my job. As …

A Geography Lesson

The first winter that I lived in Colorado, I had an hour commute to work. I had this great job at a photography studio, they specialized in children’s portraits. I loved the people I worked with. I even enjoyed the commute. (Maybe that’s why I loved driving a truck so much! LOL! )
But I’ll never forget the first snow.
Never.
I drove a Mustang. My dream car. It was my boyfriends, but he let me drive it. I’m not sure why, but he did. (He put a lot of  money into making …

It’s perfect Autumn days like today that I miss him the most.
As the leaves crackle below my shoes, I can hear him. He’s just a few steps behind me.
The wind brushes my cheek, I can feel him. He’s whispering in my ear.
The trees have come to life with breathtaking colors, I can see him. He stands tall.
There is a campfire burning in the distance, I can smell him. He smells of ashes and aftershave.
For eleven years he was a constant in my life. For six he was my love interest. …

One year ago (this week… I’m late since I was sick) I posted my first blog entry!!! Honestly, if you’d have told me back then that I’d still be blogging today? I don’t think I’d have believed it! But now I love my blog, I love my blog-buddies.

So I thought in honor, I’d share some of my favorite posts from the last year (So please, just bear with me! Suffer through this one post, I promise it will get better soon!)
Last October I covered a lot of topics, …
